Denatured Alcohol (SDA) 40B. SD alcohol has additives, namely bitrex, which is odorless but renders the alcohol undrinkable. Most commercially-prepared quality perfumes utilize perfumer’s alcohol in their formulations. Perfumery alcohol is a “fixative” for natural essential oils and man-made ingredients in the event that the perfumes must sit for months on a retail shelf.
